Welcome to Fuvahmulah
Fuvahmulah is genuinely unlike anywhere else in the Maldives. This single-island atoll — located where the Indian Ocean meets the equatorial channel — has a unique ecosystem that has earned it the nickname "The Galápagos of the Maldives." It is the only island in the country with natural freshwater lakes, unique endemic wildlife, and the only place in the world where you can reliably dive with tiger sharks without bait.
Sitting at the southernmost tip of the Maldivian island chain, Fuvahmulah is geologically distinct from other atolls. Its ring atoll shape has no open lagoon, meaning the ocean swell breaks directly on the island's shores. This creates powerful conditions that suit experienced surfers, while the deep-water walls plunging off the island's shores create an extraordinary diving environment.
Above water, Fuvahmulah is a cultural treasure. The island has its own distinct dialect, unique cuisine, and a proud heritage of fishing traditions. The two freshwater lakes — Dhadimagi Kilhi and Bandaara Kilhi — are home to endemic bird species and frogs found nowhere else in the Maldives.

Tiger Shark Dive Sites
Daily dives at 15-25m where docile tiger sharks cruise the sandy bottom. The resident population includes individuals over 4 metres in length.
